Magazine launches noose watch

October
30

Many of you will have heard about the increasing rash of noose-hanging incidents across the region.

In the wake of the recent Jena, La., demonstration, white supremacist groups have encouraged like-minded Americans to hang nooses to demonstrate their outrage over the national movement to free the Jena Six.

DiversityInc. magazine has started what it says is the first ever national noose watch.

The magazine details individual noose hanging cases that have been reported to the authorities by displaying them on a clickable U.S. map.

Well, I guess it’s progress that we’re upset about nooses rather than being forced to deal with what can be done with nooses.

I think that people who push for freedom for the Jena 6 have pushed things too far, and now they’ve apparently created a backlash.

I hope they’ll be smarter in the future about the causes they champion.

Have people pushed for freedom or fair treatment by the prosecutor. Charging a teen-ager with attempted murder as a result of a fight is a bit much, considering the victim was able to attend a school event that night. Ya think if the victim was black and the attacker9s) white, an attempted murder charge would have been filed? Previous incidents down there indicate not.
